We wanted a new pool of quality tech talent to reach out to.
Our Situation
A fresh start
We were running out of suitable, quality Engineers to message on other platforms, having exhausted those other platforms for all their worth. We needed a new database of Engineers to reach out to, and cord offered that to us. Alongside that, we wanted to enhance our EVP and brand identity. It’s critical when hiring to stand out from the crowd as it’s so competitive, so the option to build up our company careers page on cord looked incredibly appealing to us.

Valuable filters
My team and I only use cord for about 15-20 minutes at the start of the day. We receive instant notifications when a new Engineer appears in our streams, alongside a morning overview email, enabling us to act swiftly and saving us time. From there, we check out the Engineer’s profile, message them if we want to take them forward for an interview or hide them from the stream if we’d rather not progress with them any further. Engineers can build a bespoke profile with their primary and secondary technical skills, past experience and expected salary range clearly listed. Knowing what skills an Engineer is interested in working with is something I really like to know going into an interview with a prospective hire.
Quick and efficient
Alongside the ability to directly message Engineers, the automated follow-up messages are great too, something you don’t get on LinkedIn. These automatically send out a few days after our initial message, just to give the Engineer a little bit of a nudge if they need it, and more often than not this prompts a reply. The response rate from Engineers is really high; one in two messages I send out will get responded to, a marked improvement over other platforms. The speed of responses is also incredibly fast - I don’t have to wait long at all to get Engineers to respond to me. It makes Engineers pass through the hiring pipeline much more efficiently.
Valuable filters
The filtering system on cord is really effective in helping me tailor each stream to exactly what I require from potential hires. With it, I know I am looking purely at quality, suitable Engineers, all of whom match my hiring criteria. They are active, interested and looking to switch roles, so you don’t need to worry about wasting time reaching out to Engineers who may not even be looking for a job in the first place. There’s a high volume of Engineers on cord, but it’s not overwhelming, as I’ve found on other platforms - rather, it’s manageable for myself and my team as we’re not having to spend the entire day sourcing and sifting through hundreds of unsuitable applications.
Another great aspect of the filtering system I really appreciate is the way to filter down Engineers to only show those of minority backgrounds. Diversity and inclusion are incredibly important, so having a way to focus solely on these types of Engineers, whether it’s female developers or those of an ethnic minority, is incredibly useful.
