View websiteView cord profileWe have over 600 clients and 15 years experience of delivering value. We continue to develop our SaaS product by harnessing the latest possibilities in the cloud, search, AI and automation. We have several exciting and challenging projects on the go in which our engineers play a key role.
Our Goal
We wanted to access to a quality pool of candidates that were actively looking to switch roles.
Our Situation
Dealing with low response rates
We’ve needed to hire a lot in our engineering team in the past three years, both in the UK and the US. My experience of hiring in the past has been posting roles on job boards like Indeed and reaching out to people via Linkedin.
One of the biggest problems with recruiting on Linkedin is that, when reaching out to people, it can be really tough to tell if they’re even looking for a job or not. The response rate is very low. Even when someone responds and we get talking, if they’re not looking that’s sourcing time I won’t get back.
Using a tool like cord is very unique because it’s not like going to a staffing agency to find candidates. It’s a place where we have pre-qualified candidates, with upfront salaries. We’re easily able to see if people are looking to switch roles and what sort of compensation they want.
Using cord
The right place for Software Engineers
The difference between cord and other platforms out there is the specific tech and Engineering focus. Being able to filter engineers with such specific primary and secondary skills is unique. Filtering by technical skill is not something that I have seen before and we don’t have anything else that we’re currently using that has the same capability.
One of the great features is the ability to search for people that are eligible to work in the UK or the US, since we’re unable to sponsor. Having a simple checkbox to filter out people we're unable to sponsor saves us having to check through people's Visa status ourselves.
Quantity and quality

There’s a good amount of candidates and there are new candidates added every day but I don’t do a search and there are 5000 candidates - a number that high feels very daunting to have to look through, so being able to narrow the search so you have 150 people to look through is much better. It’s manageable and I like that.
The response rate that we get on cord is around 40% based on some of the stats that we’ve seen, much higher than other platforms that we’ve used for outreach. More success, no fees

There’s been a great cost-benefit to using cord because of the pay-for-access pricing. If we’d have used an agency to make the same seven hires that we made on cord, the fees would have been far more than the cost of cord. It’s a much more cost-effective hiring solution for us.
The biggest thing for us as a business is just the success rate that we see on cord. It’s so much higher than elsewhere. Not only are we able to get engineers through the door and into our pipeline much better, the engineers that we get from cord are of a higher calibre than we get from other tools.
