"The main benefit is that cord is curated, so you’ll find relevant candidates as well as candidates actively looking to switch jobs, which you probably won’t find on websites like LinkedIn."

About Mava
They believe in opening up opportunities, from assets to education. Through a fair, open and accessible platform, they're breaking down traditional barriers and enabling a fractional economy.
Our Goal
Once we raised our pre-seed funding, we decided it was time for us to hire and expand our team.
We are a relatively young company, our team is spread across London, Portugal and Germany so we are open to hire remotely. Initially, our hiring process consisted of posting jobs on different job boards, and conducting a lot outreach via LinkedIn. Finding the right people looking for remote work, doing the outreach and having only a handful of people coming back to us was very time-consuming process and it wasn't easy finding the right people looking for remote work, do the outreach, with a handful of people coming back to us. These weren’t necessarily the right people responding to us. It was a lot of work for us.
Save time on hiring
The reason we signed up to cord was to save time and find people who are actively searching for jobs, and that is what I found. On candidate profiles, you can see when a person's last been online and track their average response time as well. This allows us to make quicker decisions when sourcing with candidates.
Specific filtering, curated searches
The way I use cord is by filtering by specific skills and sorting the stream of users by last active. This means I only talk to people who have recently been online on the tool. They are more likely to be engaged and looking for a new opportunity.
The main filter we’ve been using is the skills feature - this ensures we can meet our requirements as our roles require specific skill sets, frameworks and languages.
An additional product feature I’ve used is the boolean search, allowing me to search for specific keywords such as “web 3”, “blockchain”, or “crypto”. Even if these requirements aren’t a must, this feature increases the odds of a person being interested and responding to me if they are keen to find a role within that specific industry.
Cost effective sourcing
Whenever we have an open role, I look at the tool and any new candidates that might have recently joined or have been active. After 2 or 3 weeks on cord, we’d built up a good pipeline of people into our hiring funnel.
Compared to other platforms and services out there, cord has given us good ROI.
