Our Goal
When we first joined cord, we were pretty desperate because we had been trying for months to get anybody of the required standard to apply to our Staff Engineer DevOps Specialist position, so I was ready to engage with a new hiring tool.
It was always really challenging for us to hire new talent. We would advertise a job online and, quite often, no one would apply.
On the other side of the coin, we were assailed, as everybody is, by agencies all the time. However, we found their fees extortionate for the return we were getting.
Fast response
I was interviewing people within a day or 2 of using cord. We instantly noticed that engineers were engaged and responsive. Our positive response rate on cord has been great: 62% of people reply to our outreach messages.
Efficient sourcing
The tagging function is powerful. You can immediately discard people who don’t have the primary skills you’re looking for, but the secondary skills provide interesting additional information about the engineer.
There’s a good turnover as new engineers join cord and automatically join the streams I’ve set up which match their criteria.
Supporting diversity
cord enables you to find engineers from underrepresented groups, such as women and people from a minority background, which supports our active efforts of bringing about greater diversity and inclusion within our engineering team. As a company, we are actively trying to get female candidates to even apply to our roles.
A problem-solver
cord has solved my four biggest recruitment problems: it’s a lot cheaper, I can find quality candidates quickly, I can have a direct conversation which cuts out the middle-man, and I can work on hiring at a time that suits me.
