Job Description

As a Manager in the Accounts & Business Advisory team, you will play a key role in providing strategic financial guidance and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients. You will manage a portfolio of clients, acting as a trusted business adviser and developing long-term client relationships. You will provide proactive business, financial and strategic advice, helping clients identify opportunities, address challenges and achieve their growth objectives.

You will use analytical procedures, accounting ratios and other benchmarking techniques to assess the viability of a client's business and advise the client accordingly. You will identify opportunities to add value through wider advisory services and collaborate with specialist teams to deliver holistic client solutions. You will support clients with business planning, cash flow forecasting, profitability improvement and operational decision-making.

You will lead client meetings, presenting financial information in a clear and commercially focused manner to aid decision making. You will review accounts (unincorporated and incorporated) prepared by team members, ensuring accuracy and quality, before signing off by the Senior Manager/Partner. You will build a strong understanding of clients' businesses, industries and strategic goals to provide tailored advice throughout the year.

You will manage the financial performance of a client portfolio, including WIP, billing, recoveries and debt management. You will work closely with Directors and Partners to deliver exceptional client service and identify opportunities for business development. You will support new business generation through networking, referrals, prospect meetings and converting enquiries into long-term client relationships.

You will advise clients on cloud accounting systems and digital solutions (eg Xero, Sage, Quickbooks etc) helping businesses improve efficiency and reporting capabilities. You will manage, mentor and develop team members through to Senior level, providing coaching, technical guidance and performance support. You will liaise with senior leadership regarding resource planning and workload management.

You will maintain strong communication across teams and departments to ensure a collaborative and client-centric approach. You will achieve chargeable hour and business performance targets whilst delivering a high-quality advisory service.


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • You will be ACA or ACCA qualified with a full CPD record appropriate to requirement for your qualification.
  • You have a proven track record in supervising a designated client portfolio including managing workflow, preparation, review, meeting the client, invoicing the work, and meeting statutory deadlines.
  • You possess strong leadership qualities which enable you to mentor, train and develop the team through organisational skills, delegation, and clear guidance of processes, practices and systems / softwares.
  • You have excellent knowledge of the main accounting systems in the marketplace (eg Xero, Sage, Quickbooks etc) in order to assist and advise clients accordingly.
  • Your exceptional communication skills enable you to maintain effective and proactive communication with own team, management, other departments and clients.
  • You demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain effective, trusted relationships with clients. Proactively build rapport, deepening understanding of clients' businesses, and contribute accordingly during prospective client meetings alongside Manager/Partner.

Requirements

We have built our entire banking platform in house and mostly in Java. We are looking for people who want to work on building the tooling that is used by our engineers on a daily basis.

We are looking for people who are truly full stack, and are as comfortable polishing their javascript front end as they are debugging the innards of their java applications database interactions, or standing up infrastructure with terraform. We are looking for people who can:

  • Design REST apis.
  • Code backend services, ideally using Java, or another other server side compiled language.
  • Develop modern front ends, ideally using React and Redux.
  • Get their code into the cloud and support it there, ideally on AWS.
  • Believe in clean coding, simple solutions, automated testing and continuous deployment.
  • Like to take ownership of a feature from the original idea through to live.
